The Tourism Trifecta

20 February 2025

Minister Upston's announcement today of an injection of funding for regional tourism completes a week of positive news for tourism and illustrates a strong commitment to working with industry.

TIA is a strong advocate for balanced growth - which basically means ensuring that different aspects of the tourism industry develop in a way that complement each other.

This week the Government has utilised the IVL to enable a boost in marketing efforts for the traditionally quieter autumn period, announced a significant and positive investment in a multitude of conservation projects and a confirmed important investment in regional tourism to ensure that the benefits of visitation are dispersed.

We are delighted to see a trifecta of positive moves by Minister Upston and her colleagues, and look forward to continuing to work alongside the Minister as she progresses her Tourism Boost plans.

We are an industry of potential - when tourism does well it creates vibrancy where we live, enables jobs, supports our conservation efforts and the New Zealand economy. There is plenty of potential for growth particularly when you look at the amazing new hotels we have in Auckland, the convention centres that we can leverage in our main centres and our global position as a desirable, unique place to holiday.
