In 2018, TIA supported the Ministry of Social Development and Joy Business Academy to create Work the Seasons, a job-matching website for seasonal workers and employers.
The website has had a refresh ahead of the 2019/2020 season and will be a great support to New Zealand businesses looking for seasonal labour. The website also presents a range of resources for job-seekers to upskill. There are online courses for free and Work the Seasons' tracking shows 70% of people who have completed a course have gone on to get a job.
A recent addition is a forestry health and safety game to introduce people to the industry and give some limited training. This initiative reduces the time and cost of training new recruits and it can match them to an employer after assessing their compatibility. This is free for both job-seekers and employers.
