2019 TINZT Tourism Academic Scholarships announced

Tourism Industry New Zealand Trust is pleased to announce that the 2019 TINZT Academic Scholarships are open for applications.

The TINZT Scholarships are available to help young New Zealanders complete their final year of tourism-related tertiary study and prepare them for a fantastic career in the tourism industry.

The scholarships are for New Zealand citizens and permanent residents who have successfully commenced their study in a tourism-related course at an NZQA-accredited tertiary institute in New Zealand, and are about to commence on their final year of study in 2019. Up to two scholarships valued at $4000 will be awarded this year.

The scholarships comprise a $2500 payment towards the recipient’s final year of study in a tourism-related tertiary course, attendance at the Tourism Summit Aotearoa (including travel costs and accommodation), a day of placement and networking with Wellington-based tourism operators and organisations, assignment of a TIA mentor and finally, TIA-facilitated local engagement to engender continued support post-study.

Interested students can find more information at Tourism Industry New Zealand Trust, where an application pack can be downloaded. Applications open 18 September 2018 and close at 5pm on 11 October 2018.

Here's what some previous TINZT Academic Scholarship recipients had to say...

Samantha McGhie, studying a Bachelor of Management Studies, majoring in marketing, at the University of Waikato:

Winning the TINZT scholarship has allowed me to meet some inspirational people who work in the tourism industry, which has motivated me to work harder at my tertiary education as I want to work with them in the future."

Georgia McLean, studying a tourism management degree at Victoria University of Wellington:

"The scholarship has been fantastic. Not only has it helped me get ahead financially, it has also given me a chance to spend time learning more about the industry."
