DGiT, the new and innovative online tool to help tourism operators and RTOs maximise domestic tourism, was launched on 22 November 2016. This is the first major initiative to come out of the Activating Domestic Tourism Working Group, spearheaded by TIA with representatives from the private and public sectors of the industry.
The Group was formed in October 2015 to undertake research into domestic segmentation to ensure opportunities to boost domestic tourism’s value are identified and grasped. The goal is to deliver at least a $9 billion increase in annual domestic tourism spend by 2025.
DGiT and the Activating Domestic Tourism Working Group is a great example of the industry aligning for growth. The Group includes representatives from Regional Tourism Organisations NZ, the Automobile Association, Air New Zealand, i-SITE New Zealand, the accommodation and transport sectors, Department of Conservation and the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment.
DGiT was developed with generous funding support from industry partners.
