TIA is leading KE-TAG (Kaikoura Earthquake - Tourism Action Group) to guide the coordination of the industry and government tourism response to the Kaikoura earthquakes.
Eight industry organisations are represented - TIA, Tourism Export Council, Regional Tourism Organisations NZ, Rental Vehicle Assn, Hospitality NZ, Restaurant Assn, Local Government NZ and the AA alongside four central government agencies - Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment, NZ Transport Agency, Tourism NZ and the Department of Conservation.
TIA Advocacy Manager Steve Hanrahan says the group continues to meet regularly and is now focused on the recovery of the Kaikoura tourism industry.
The group met regularly throughout 2017 to monitor the responses, identify any gaps in the response and take action as required.
