As TIA's Industry Advocate, Rachael ensures our members’ views are heard loud and clear, talking and meeting with members and organisations whose work impacts on tourism. Rachael works to resolve issues impacting on members and ensures TIA takes a leadership role on pan-industry issues.
She works across a broad range of topics including leading TIA’s work with the Department of Conservation.
Rachael represented the tourism industry on the Land and Water Forum and was part of the TIA team steering the development of both the Tourism Sustainability Commitment and the refresh of the industry’s growth framework, Tourism 2025 and Beyond.
She is also TIA’s safety specialist in outdoor and adventure tourism, with her work for this sector leading to her recognition as a finalist in the public policy division of the 2016 Westpac Women of Influence Awards.
Rachael has worked in tourism in 13 different countries, picking up a world championship in rafting along the way. She now lives in Wanaka.
